Around the campfire – September 2023

Hi folks, welcome to the September campfire catch-up! As the beach days fade away, our campfire keeps the spirit of summer alive. Join us as we toast marshmallows and get up to speed on the latest updates.
Our product team has been hard at work, making Sharktower even better with a shiny new homepage, a spark of enhancements, and a brand new way to plan projects (well, kind of).
Here are a few updates we think you might like to see.
Shiny new homepage!
Let’s start with the homepage. Since Sharktower was created in 2020, we’ve had the same homepage which provided useful insights and a newsfeed on what is going on. But we wanted to give it a refresh, so in late 2022, we released an enhanced version that takes things to the next level. Now, users have the ability to see what work items are due today, anything that is overdue, and add some favourite projects, giving you the ability to ‘star’ ones you’re working on or want to keep at the top. It’s like having a personal assistant to help you manage your workload!
Gantt planning tool released!
Our new planning tool. Okay, so it’s not really that new, but it is new for us! You might be familiar with GANTT planning – it’s been around for donkey’s years. But with the powers of Sharktower and GANTT coming together, we’ve given GANTT a much-needed upgrade. You can plan in the traditional way, but as usual, you can link risks, issues, tasks, and decisions to the plan and keep everything in one place (ever heard of a single source of truth?).

Bite-sized update
And last but not least, we’ve also added file attachments. Have you ever been frustrated by sending documents via email, only for them to get blocked or lost in the cloud? We feel your pain, which is why we’ve made it easy to share files.
You can now add files to work items (tasks, stories, risks, issues, and decisions), making it super handy when you have documents that need reviewing or sharing files with a third party.
Check out the file attachment feature in our knowledge base for more information.
Cool fact!
Did you know that project management tools have been around since the early 20th century? The first known Gantt Chart was developed by Henry Gantt in the 1910s, making it one of the earliest project planning tools ever created. Fast forward to today, and we’re still innovating with tools like Sharktower, combining cutting-edge technology with tried-and-true project planning principles. It’s a testament to how far we’ve come in streamlining project management!
That’s all from us for this catch-up. Until next time!
